The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Pannonia, with its dynamic, innovative teaching and progressive approach, is competing to be one of the best engineering faculties in Hungary. Our aim is to explore new areas of science by conserving the traditional values of engineering training and to preserve the finest national and international standards of academic excellence. Master’s Programmes


Environmental Engineering

Duration: 4 semesters
Number of credits: 120

The aim of the course is to provide advance training in natural sciences, engineering, business management, and to equip students with the knowledge of recognizing and preventing environmental hazards in different fields. With their professional knowledge they are able to mitigate and eliminate environmental problems and damages. Nevertheless, students learn how to utilize natural resources rationally, develop and operate cleaner technologies. They are capable of neutralizing hazardous waste by acquiring knowledge in the field of nature and land conservation, regional policy and environmental management.
Their overall knowledge enables them to plan, organize and control environmental projects and participate in engineering work creatively. Emphasis is put on identifying industrial and production processes which generate waste and discharges and on proposing suitable control and prevention measures to reduce or eliminate undesirable by-products and pollution. Various technologies are examined, including emissions control, water treatment, solid waste disposal, recycling and energy utilization.
Environmental engineering requires a broad range of skills and expertise in technologies, project design including relevant management experience.

Environmental Sciences

Duration: 4 semesters
Number of credits: 120

The main objective of the programme is to train professionals who have a broad knowledge across traditional science disciplines and use of tools of scientific research to study and solve environmental issues. Special courses are devoted to developing skills in science communication and facilitating the selection of a thesis topic. Core courses mostly consist of classes in various types of instrumental material analysis, complemented by a summer field course, providing skills that are much sought after in the labour market.
Students may choose either the Atmospheric Environment or the Limnology specialization. Typically, students in both specializations pursue independent research under the guidance of a faculty member. In order to develop a researcher's attitude, students participate in scientific conference and in the social life of the departments that are involved in the program.

MSc in Chemical Engineering

Duration: 4 semesters
Number of credits: 120

The programme is designed to provide students a thorough knowledge covering all aspects of chemical engineering. Our aim is to deliver courses which meet the requirements of a diverse modern chemical industry and to play an important role in creating a generation of engineers who can function in today’s rapidly changing industrial marketplace. The course is accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
Our chemical engineers are qualified to complete design projects in the fields of chemical and related industries, and to carry out research and development tasks. Students of the MSc programme are eligible to advance their studies at doctoral level in their special fields.


Postgraduate Programmes

Hydrocarbon Technology Development Engineer

Duration: 2 semesters
Number of credits: 60

The program’s goal is to train specialists in hydrocarbon processing industry, who possess deep knowledge in refining and petrochemical technologies and able to:
  • form technical and economic evaluation of product and process development projects;
  • initiate short and long term developments;
  • set up different processing ways as well as evaluate them;
  • prepare decision making studies;
  • initiate and accomplish action plans on efficiency improvement;
  • manage research and development projects.

Water and Wastewater Treatment System Operation

Duration: 2 semesters
Number of credits: 60

Our postgraduate programme provides advanced training to engineers and specialists to develop their understanding of the activities involved in water and wastewater treatment and to work out strategies and devise systems that are crucial to preserve the environment.
The programme is mainly designed for those non-engineering and engineering graduates who are keen to pursue a career within companies and organisations involved in water and wastewater engineering.
The programme covers subject areas of chemistry, microbiology and mechanical engineering that are essential in understanding the water and wastewater treatment methods and processes. Additional areas of study related to water and wastewater treatment include automation, quality assurance, business economics, etc. Students gain experience in modern calculation methods and laboratory practice in water chemistry and process technology.
